Initial Basic, Standard or Advanced Server Installation

When you order an on-demand dedicated server management package you have the choice of three different levels of server configuration. These configurations are designed to accommodate you in whatever use you plan to put your managed dedicated hosting server towards.

Our highly skilled, highly trained engineers have used the knowledge and expertise they have gained from years of server management and intrusion recovery to come up with three server configuration packages that will ensure your server environment is at the correct level of security and has everything installed that you will need to get best use out of your dedicated server solution.

24/7 Technical Support Available (RHCE Certified)

We have a round-the-clock team of qualified systems administrators waiting to help you with any technical issues you may encounter. There is at least one administrator with RedHat Certification on duty at all times in order that we provide you with the necessary expertise in all control panels, services and operating systems that we make available to you.

We also have a separate RHCE certified managed services team who work to perform system configuration and hardening as well as any  advanced work that needs to be performed for example audits and updates, server migrations and server restoration.

By keeping these two teams separate it enables our technical support to concentrate on service impacting problems and provide rapid responses to issues while allowing our managed services team to dedicate their time solely to keeping managed servers up to date and secure. Technical support can be obtained at any time via our Customer Control Center, our highly trained engineers look forward to working with you!


Advanaced Monitoring and Escalation Procedures

Our monitoring system is integrated into our proprietary Customer Control Center system and will check your dedicated server every five minutes to ensure it is responding successfully to HTTP requests. You are also able to add additional services of your choice to be monitored from within the Control Center so that you can be alerted via e-mail in the event of them becoming unresponsive.

If our systems determine that your server has stopped responding for a period of longer than ten minutes, an issue will be sent to engineers directly on the datacenter floor for a confirmation and if the server is deemed fully unresponsive it will be rebooted automatically, without requiring you to lift a finger.

As part of our advanced monitoring service we also give you the ability to monitor additional services and have issues opened with our technicians if they are found to be unresponsive. We will also provide you with an SMS alert on a status change for any services you choose. Finally, in your dedicated server notes you are able to specify custom escalation procedures that our engineers should follow if your server becomes unresponsive (if none are listed we default to rebooting if the server is unresponsive).


Operating Software or Kernel Upgrades Included

Our systems administrators are available to perform upgrades to the server operating software and kernel as you should require. This includes any standard dedicated server service, any of our supported control panels (cPanel, PLESK and DirectAdmin) and the servers operating kernel.

At present we will only install kernel versions pre-compiled by the software vendor as standard however if you should wish us to compile a kernel specially for your machine, for example with grsecurity, just let our engineers know and our engineers will quote you a price based on your specifications.


Basic, Standard or Advanced Installation on Reload

Whichever initial configuration you choose, the same configuration will be performed free if you ever need to reload your server for any reason.


Weekly Security Audit & Update

Once your dedicated server has had the initial configuration performed, our managed services team will perform a full security audit of your dedicated server automatically each week. Upon performing this security audit our managed services engineers will use tried and tested industry best practices to monitor the activities in progress on the server, what has occurred on the dedicated server recently and what potential threats there are to its security. Once threats have been identified we will update anything that requires an update as well as make service configuration changes to counter any vulnerability.

We will start our audit by identifying all the key services running on the dedicated server and what versions of the services are being run, if they are out of date they will be updated to the most recent versions (assuming control panel compatibility is maintained).

Our team of managed services engineers will then proceed to process your dedicated servers' log files, check its loads and block any potential intruders. We will also check currently blocked IP addresses to ensure only illegitimate traffic is being blocked.

Finally a low-level scan of the dedicated server will be performed by the engineer to check for any root kit and trojan activity and potentially vulnerable binary files, confirm there are no hidden or unwanted processes, ensure temporary directories are free of unnecessary files and check the servers mail queues are clear and spam free.


Server Backup Restoration Included

If you have made server backups properly or we have performed backups for you based on our managed services engineers expertise we will restore them for you as you require them. If you think you will want this service in the future it is a good idea to discuss your backup procedures with our engineers to ensure the fastest and most complete restoration of dedicated server data.


Server Migration Included

We have two ways to perform server migrations, depending on your requirements and hardware configuration.

If you are migrating to a server with higher specifications and both servers are located in the same ManageMyServices datacenter we may be able to simply move the entire hard drive over to a new dedicated server chassis of your choice. This depends on the type of hard drive in the the old and new system, as our new server configurations use larger SATA hard drives while our legacy configurations use smaller IDE drives. If the package specifications for the two servers have the same type of drive then a simple drive swap can be performed.

If you are migrating to a dedicated server with ManageMyServices from a different provider or you need to migrate data manually from an old dedicated server to a new one our managed services engineers will be happy to assist with the data move.


Intrusion and SPAM Recovery Included

We see customers' dedicated servers used to send SPAM without their knowledge on a regular basis and often it is inherently difficult to identify the culprit, be that a particular domain or even a particular script. Our managed services team are able to assist you when it is identified that your server has been used to send SPAM and help you to identify the source and understand how the problem developed, we can then clean up the server for you to continue normal operations.

If the server has suffered from an intrusion we can assist you in identifying how the server was penetrated and if it is safe to do so, clean the server up to allow you to continue operating. We can identify where the intrusion occurred and how it was performed, this can also help us to recommend the best cause of action following an intrusion, be it a system re-installation or simple clean-up and further server hardening.


Installation of Third-Party Scripts Included

We know all our customers put their dedicated servers to different uses and therefore however hard we try, we will not be able to install all the software in our initial configurations that our customers need for getting the best use out of their systems.

Our managed services engineers are therefore happy to install third party applications and scripts for example ZendOptimizer, IonCube, GD, Curl, ImageMagick, Eaccelerator, ffmpeg, bandwidth monitoring applications and anything else you can find to test our team with!


Customer Control Center to Manage Services

All our dedicated server customers gain access to our proprietary Customer Control Center system. This system is designed to allow our customers to control every aspect of their services with ManageMyServices and communicate with our team on-demand from wherever they may be located.

Features available for managed dedicated customers include server monitoring control, bandwidth usage monitoring, IP address management, reverse DNS management, reboot control and billing information. System Re-Installation Included

Should your dedicated server require a complete re-installation due to user error then we will perform this, generally within two hours of you requesting it.


KVM Console Rental Available

Our datacenter has multiple remote KVM over IP console units available so that should you wish to perform work on your dedicated server that requires hands and eyes access you can use our  KVM unit to gain BIOS-level access to the machine from any standard web browsing software. It is an almost exact simulation of being directly sat at the machine, giving you keyboard, video and mouse access to the system.

Our datacenter technicians can often hook a KVM up for you immediately in an emergency or you may request one to be connected at a specific time for you to perform server maintenance. Just submit a request via our Customer Control Center and our engineers will be happy to assist you.

You are able to make use of the KVM unit for 2 hours per month which is included in the package.


50GB Off-Site Backup Space Included

We include 50GB of off-site backup space that allows you to perform unlimited backups and make use of technologies such as rsync and samba mountpoints to allow for fast and efficient backup processes. There is no limit on how much you can transfer to our backup servers (although anything going from your server will be counted towards your bandwidth total).

Your backup space can be directly accessed by both FTP or Samba mount and also allows for SSH encryption if you should desire it. You can access your backup data from anywhere, from any server you have with ManageMyServices as well as from sources external to our network. You can easily scale your backup space as necessary simply by opening a support issue with ManageMyServices' sales team.

By providing backup space included in your management package it gives you the peace of mind that your data is backed up off-site in the event of any hardware failure, user error or server intrusion.
